Filming Blog- Core of the Film

Entering the second filming phase. Me and Jaden filmed the core scenes of my film. Scenes 5-8. These scenes are the main one’s hitting the theme of Sports Drama. One of the scenes are key in causing the big twist at the end by foreshadow. This scene is scene 5. This was possibly the most difficult scene to film because it involved two actors (me and my mother). Which was hard because both of us could’ve messed up at any moment of the dialogue. In which happened a few times. We did hit another complication this scene was filmed at night because it was the only time my mother was available. So all of my film is filmed during the day time except for this scene. However I think I covered it up well all blinds were closed and light was very day time equivalent in her room, in which was the setting of the scene. Moving on Scene 6 and 7 were set up scenes. Scene 6 which is probably my most favorite scene because of the mood it sets (very positive) and I look pretty good which is always a plus. Also it starts the sport half the film with skating. Scene 7 was possibly the easiest scene to film it was very straight forward and all I really did was grab a bag to set up scene 8. Last scene of the day was scene 8 this is definitely the most prominent sports scene. In this scene there was a lot of trial an error because it involves actually doing skateboard tricks. Which was very hard because I haven’t skated in about 2 years (when I started wrestling). However, I got it done it doesn’t look the best obviously, because I’m not the best skater but in my opinion it still looks good. I’m very proud of the film day and I think the film with be great.

Filming Blog- First Scenes

This weekend I was very busy. Like I said in my last blog it was Districts. The make it or break it for my post season. The tournament was in palm beach on Saturday. Me and my team got to the school... Suncoast at 8 in the morning and the tournament started at 9. Luckily my season isn’t over I won the whole tournament I took 1st for my weight class (132 pounds). Which means I am going to Regionals this weekend coming up. The best part is that I wasn’t the only one to qualify for Regionals. In fact my whole team did, which was amazing. Me and two other of my teammates took 1st. Three other teammates took 2nd. Two others took 3rd. Another two took 4th, in which are all placing to qualify for Regionals. Also the team as a whole took second, so we got the District runner-up trophy. Although I was busy I still set time aside for Sunday. I got my first 4 scenes filmed. With the help of my friend Jaden. I’m really glad that I was able to have him help because I wouldn’t have been able to do it without him, since I have no group. We filmed almost everything to the T. I’m really proud of the results and I can wait to finish the whole movie.

Filming Blog- Busy Week

So this weekend that past and the start of the school week was the start to be able to film. Unfortunately I didn't film anything. I have a good excuse though, I had a tournament. I'm a wrestler at Fort Lauderdale High. The tournament was all Saturday long. I woke up at 7 am to go to Nova High for weigh-ins at 9 am. Wrestling started at 10 am. I wrestled 6 matches. I won 5 of them a lost 1. I took 3rd place. Which is good because I had a bracket of 30+ kids in it. Then Sunday I had to work at my job. It gets worse though because this week was the last week of the season. Which is just super bad timing. This Saturday coming up is Districts. Which is basically playoffs in a sense. If  I win there I go to regional but if I lose then my season is over. So all the practices this week have been very late ones so far. Which makes it very hard to film because my setting is in the day time. But yea basically I couldn't film because of athletics but that won't be in the way next time.

Planning Blog- Storyboard

This is the final final planning blog. The storyboard kinda just puts everything visually. It’s basically the shooting script but with pictures. It’s just helps you get everything set and stone. So when you start filming everything would be fluent. You wouldn’t have to be confused on how to set up the next scene or shot. It’s all set there for you. I think I did mine very good. I think it’ll help me greatly. Here is my storyboard.

Planning Blog- Title Design

This is the last planning blog. Probably one of the more important ones. The titles are essentially the main point of an opening sequence. A opening sequence isn't really a opening sequence without them. So it's important to have them set and stone with a theme. This can actually improve the overall message for the movie. The title can give the opening sequence help in foreshadowing the whole movie. That is why every little detail down to the font is so crucial. Also why I need a whole separate google slide to plan it out. So here is the slide

Planning blog- Location, Participants, Health, Schedule

Moving on to the details of my film. I had to place down a schedule which is pretty straight forward and split evenly. I have plenty of time to complete the task. Thanks to having all this planning set up it will be easy to stay on track. I also found out a way to complete everything while being by myself. I requested help from my best friend and my mother. They and I are pretty much it for participants. Also the location setting is very easy to get stuff filmed. it is all based around the house I live in. here is the google slide.

Planning Blog- Sound Script

The second item on the planning list is the sound script. This one was very easy to understand and complete. My movie doesn't necessarily have much dialogue in it. So doing this part of the planning was very fast. In all honesty there is pretty much only 1 scene with dialogue. Because of this though I took time in deciding if I should only use like three slides for all the scenes. But I just decided to just do one slide per scene. I did the shooting script like this so I just wanted to keep everything in similar format. So it'd be easier to use when I'm actually using it to make my movie.

Planning blog - Shooting Script

We entered the planning phase of the final task. I started off with the shooting script. It was a little difficult to like fully understand what I had to. We never really done this we usually do just a storyboard. So separating it piece by piece was kinda confusing. For example I didn’t really know what exactly I was allowed to put into the shooting script. Thankfully I found a good analogy for it. The shooting script is basically the storyboard step by step of scenes but with no dialogue or pictures. After that everything when off without a hitch and I think the movie is coming along fine. Also you may notice that the shooting script is slightly off from my original pitch and that's because I was informed that a movie can't be only sports themed then there'd be no interest so I shifted it into a sports drama. This is my shooting script.
