Title Research- Wimbledon

In this opening sequence a total of 37 titles appeared which is a lot more than all the others.

The images prioritized in the opening sequence are those of the spectators watching the ball get hit from side to side in a tennis match

The connotation given off is a happy and more upbeat then the others they are just enjoying watching a match

The genre is reinforced by the no face of the spectators and tennis is symbolized by the constant batting noise of the ball in the background

An enigma is established by the lack of a leading character and the fact that the players in the match are never shown

Strategies used to reach the target audience are it’s subliminal use of the tennis noise and the use of spectators as the main eye grabbers

Technology was used effectively through editing. Title work was very jumpy and entertaining and new. The images of the spectators were edited to blur the faces and the added tennis match sounds

Title Research- Creed

In this opening sequence there are 25 titles displayed.

The images prioritized are of the main character in many situations. Like of him training or in a boxing match.

The images give a sad connotation because most images give off impression of the character going through pain or in hardship.

The genre is enforced through symbolic and technical codes like visuals of gloves or the main character wrapping his hands. Pictures of character in Juvenile hall in the background.

An enigma is created through the images of the main character starting a fight or preparing for one but never showing the opponent it makes you wonder who he's fighting.

The strategies used to ensure reach to target audience is to show victory and preparation for the ring but also showing hardships and loss while never showing the whole picture

Technology is effectively used through the camera. The quality and detail of each shot in explicit and the editing used only furthers the images.

Title Research- WWW. WatchTheTitles.Com

Starting a new set of blogs for the final task. Focusing on the title part for the final task. One of the sources for research that I am using is this website called www.watchthetitles.com. This website is structured very different from the other site. This site doesn’t use theme. It highlights the popular or newer title sequence of the week and places it main page. It is shown in a big movie poster followed by position number. Under the new position sequence there are doorways to many of the links in the dropbox. The site drop window has many doorways. Such as Title sequences, Featured films, tv shows, student projects, and even video games. Lots of variety in this site. It does title sequences to many facets of entertainment. It also has very artistic choice of movies similar to the other site. What makes this site excellent is that it has title sequences already separated by genre. Which makes it very easy to find sequences to study.

Starting a new set of blogs for the final task. Focusing on the title part for the final task. One of the sources for research that I am using is this website called www.artofthetitles.com. This site has a variety of opening title sequences for thousands of film. Also includes summary sequences but it main focus are the titles. It only shows the title sequences of the movies and there are movies for every imaginable genre. From this site I’ve learned a lot that I can involve in my final task. The concept of titles to convey feelings for the movie that is about to begin. Concept of multifaceted use of titles, how some sequences using a large amount of motion or effect. Some titles sequences using almost no special editing to so more simplicity for the movie. Some sequences will be using this concept of using effects to convey the emotion. This website also uses lots of older time movies to show the sequences of. Lots of more artsy movies instead of mainstream as well. The site is structured to have a theme but I assume this theme changed weekly, for instance this week Dr.No (James Bond). The site seems to also try to give as much credit to the studios and makers of the films, it has its own doorway in the site. It seems very smart to me it’s like a trade off.

Genre Research Genre Choice

So I’ve debated through the three genres I did research on. While comedy seemed entertaining it would be hard to use it and have a big wow moment at the end. It wouldn’t have worked out and drama would have been too difficult for me to do on my own. So I choose to use the sports genre but Dramatic. So sports drama. I chose it because I can do a sport that is a 1 player sport and I can use it for good wow moments. It will be easier to make the watcher keep watching. Also in the sports drama there are not a lot of movies for the sport I have in mind so there is large room for originality.

Genre Research PowerPoint

After deciding on a pitch and understanding the general way the final task will look. I need to get down to specificity. The way I can learn how to specify in my movie is through genre research. In genre research I can figure how to film my movie and how to edit because it will follow common conventions of a genre. So I was asked to do a PowerPoint for the first genre in my research. I chose the genre of comedy and did a full analysis on it through powerpoint.

The Pitch and My Group

Out of the three pitches I narrowed it down to 2. Also for this final task I’ve chosen to do the task alone without a group.
     1. A kid going about his day walking in his neighborhood living a happy day. Sees something in a ditch and goes over. He sees a body but wait is that dad?
     2. A lonely skater only has one goal to go big. He’s skating in town and finds a flyer for a national qualifier tournament. It’s his chance
For pitch 1 I think it’s a good idea because I don’t need a whole group. It’s simple with room for altercation. I can perform all my shots and camera movements without rushing the scenes. Room to perform edits for scenery. Potential for good... wait? Moment at end. It’s however might not be the best because I still need more than just 1 actor. It’s outside so could lead to bad audio. Also environmental issues can occur with the camera. Also may be difficult to recreate scenes or continue flawlessly. Hard to benchmark locations
For pitch 2 I think it’s a good idea because I only need myself. All shots and camera movements can be used. Room for edits will be better than pitch 1. There will be a prop I can to do better edits or film on. Clear indication there is more to movie at end. The only thing i see as a draw back is it will be difficult to film perfectly. Also difficult to make scenes flow seamless to the other
I have chosen to go with pitch 2 as my idea for my final task it is the easiest to perform alone and has the most potential in my opinion.
Also I have chosen to do the final task alone without a group because it will be easier to do everything by myself. Also because I have a very busy schedule that will make it difficult to meet with a group

Starting the Final Task

I’m gonna start from the top. I am Jeovany a 10th grade student at Fort Lauderdale High. I’m also a Cambridge student. I’m an athlete and a captain. I am obviously in the AICE Media program in my school. And this school year half through and so is this class. Starting the 3rd quarter I’m starting the final 2 min movie task. This is the big one and It will combine everything I’ve learned in the class to create it. In all honesty I’m glad I took this class because the items I learned are really cool. Maybe in the future I can do fun things with it.
Like I’ve said this class and taught me a lot of cool things in the movie business. Things like the stages of a whole movie production. All the steps from an Idea in the development stage to scripts and storyboards in pre-production, to filming in production, and editing in post production, with lastly distribution and exhibition. Also teaching me how to use a camera and other equipment like a tripod. Most importantly how to dump footage and edit it. I’ve learned the editing process is one of the most important parts to the final product. This is why editing is my favorite thing to do in all of the process. I’m also pretty good at it I’ve taken advantage of the other tasks to learn how to edit decently. I also like doing the storyboard and pre production steps. It’s the embodiment of the movie before it’s even made.
What is pitch? Pitch is someone describing an idea of a film in which is encapsulated in about 25 words. For the final task I have 3 pitch ideas.
        1. A kid going about his day walking in his neighborhood, living a happy day, but then sees something in a ditch and goes to see. It’s a body, but wait is that dad?
        2. A lonely skater with only one goal to go big. Skating around town there’s a flyer for a national qualifier tournament... it’s his chance!
        3. A man out for a morning run, a man we know nothing about. Who he is or what he does. He’s followed by others but ignores it, turns the corner. Sees a fist... black screen
