Thanksgiving Break Blog

 

    Over the break I decided not to film. Well to be completely honest I decided not to do anything. See the weekend starting off break I had a tournament. This was a very very big tournament. It was up in Orlando. I even left school early on Friday to make it up there for weigh ins on time. I went with my club team. This was a very important tournament. It’s name: Sunshine Pre-Season National Dual Tournament. Basically it was a national tournament with team from all over the country. I had some really tough competition. I ended up coming home Sunday night. So I made a deal with myself. Since I’m a very busy person I decided to cut myself a break. So on the Monday I told myself to do one thing for school then enjoy my break. That’s exactly what I did. The one thing I chose to do were the emails for the music permission. Then I did nothing school related for the rest of the week. I even cut back on my eating and working out regimen. Also including my actual job I cut back the hours. So that I could have a cleanse week for myself and give my body a break from its constant work. The only thing I continued were my wrestling practices but there were only two since it was thanksgiving. I enjoyed my decision and my break but unfortunately that is why I did not film over this break.

Music Blog

    Moving forward to the production part of the film. Other than actually beginning to film everything. All I can begin to set up after the marketing portfolio is the music. So before this break. About a week ago. I started brain storming. I figured out switch artists music I wanted to use. Well at least have the permission to use. I ended up just emailing the artists labels for permission. I did this in the beginning of this week. I went with artists like Twenty one pilots, Demi Lovato, Bryson Tiller, and J.Cole. These are some artist in my daily mix. So it made it easy to choose them. They are also artists with many different type of moods in their music. Some songs I felt matched my films theme. Since I know the songs well I will be able to know which parts of the song should go with what scene. At least that’s how I’m seeing it, but I also have some backups. In case the emails never went through or I never get an answer of permission. Since I did this a week ago and I haven’t gotten an answer I feel that is likely. My back up is to use the untitled, uncensored, and copyrighted songs in my editing software. I use Imovies and they have a plethora of free music. So I basically have all my bases covered. There’s plenty of songs that will fit my films mood. 

Marketing Setup Blog

  

    Starting the social media foot print is a lot harder than I thought. Last week our assignment was to open up all the social accounts. From there to market for our movie. We didn’t have to completely finalize all of the website. We just had to start it off. Along with the social media. My social outlets are twitter, instagram, facebook, and youtube. I started off by creating a account in each for my movie. All the accounts follow under Gone York as that is my movie name. I switched it from Gone Dog because in creating these accounts it was hard to get that as the user name. However Gone York was free. Since it is the dog’s name I thought it was appropriate. Moving forward I created an email a professional one under the movies name as well. So I used this email to register the four accounts. In these accounts I haven’t done much other than a profile picture for each. After this I created my website using wix.com. I chose a blacked out sort of theme to match the mystery theme of the movie. I added more pictures but other than that not much. I really only linked the social accounts to the website and left it at that. Continuing on I will add a lot more. I do think this is a good start however.

Planning: Storyboard

   After weeks of planning and developing our movies. The class finally made it to the storyboard. Weirdly I though this would be our first visualizing the movie assignment. However, the screenplay took that pleasure. So storyboard was done second this time around instead of first. I kind of liked it being done in that order though. With the screenplay being done first it made it easier to visualize the movie. So in turn made it easier to draw out the scenes and write down how it would be filmed. Side note I am not the most artistic so I apologize in advance. However, from what I remember it really only matters if I know what I am looking at and that I do. So I think my storyboard came out perfectly. In turn I feel really good about the movie itself. I can see exactly how I want it played out. Looking back at the process it did take me a while to complete this. Since the movie is 5 minutes the storyboard needed to be 10 pages. So it can represent the right time spaces of the scenes. However, with that being the requirement it is time consuming. Sadly I don't have lots of time on my hand as I explained previously with my tough schedule. It worked out in the end though as I finished on time since we had a week to complete the assignment. I am happy with the out come and it will be helpful in the film process.  

Planning For Short Film

- Schedule:

I plan to have 4 to 5 film days.

Having two film days for 2 weeks and 1 last day in another week

The film days will be Tuesday and Thursday

I plan to film on the tuesdays and thursdays of week 11/15/20 to 11/21/20 and week 11/22/20 to 11/28/20. Then the last day on the Tuesday of week 11/29/20 to 12/5/20
